DEVELOPMENT ISSUES OF FOOD SAFETY CULTURE AS TOPICS FOR DISCUSSION

Gavar State University is a partner of EU “ERASMUS + Armenian Network of Excellence in Bio-Products Science and Technology (ABIONET)” project. Within the framework of the project a seminar-discussion took place on “Development of Food Safety Culture: best practice for a more sustainable food system ” on the initiative of “ASKFOOD” organization.

The online seminar was conducted by lecturers from leading universities of Italy, Great Britain, Northern Ireland and India.

From Gavar State University Termine Khachikyan, Head of the Academic Policy Department, and Marine Hovhannisyan, Lecturer at the Chair of Biology, Ecology and Healthy Lifestyle, Faculty of Natural Sciences, participated in the seminar.

The speakers presented various issues related to food safety, which are especially relevant in the conditions of Covid 19 pandemic. They touched upon the topic of bacteriological contamination of food, use of packaging technologies, observance of expiration dates.

They highlighted the level of consumer awareness and emphasized that the culture of food safety needs to be developed from childhood in a person’s whole life.

After the reports, a question and answer session was held.
